Charlie Black, a chief adviser to John McCain, had this to say recently in reference to VP nominee Sarah Palin:
“She’s going to learn national security at the foot of the master for the next four years, and most doctors think that he’ll be around at least that long.”Eh, wow. Where to begin. I assume he was joking about the "doctors think he'll be around at least that long," and obviously the "she's going learn national security [on the job]" part is both mind-boggling and terrifying. But "at the foot of the master"? Why is she at McCain's feet? Is she worshiping him? Is she a servant to him? Do his toes just smell really good?

I assume the level to which she goes prostrate before him is directly proportional to the gap between her political/foreign experience and his... in which case she should be melting into the floor like the witch in Oz... and that's scary considering McCain was never the most world-savvy politician on our roster.

The witch was simply the first image of a person melting into the floor that I could think of... i am in no way implying that Mrs. Palin is a practioner of the dark arts nor do I mean to suggest that her appearance has gone downhill since her pageant days. Lovely woman... really.
Ha ha, nice. Boy, you must have a high standard for what makes a politician "world-savvy" --- like knowing that Czechoslovakia is no longer a country? Or knowing the difference between a Sunni and a Shiite?
ReplyDeleteUm... Great to assume McCain will be alive that long, but as for me... I'd like a little more um.... EXPERIENCE in she who could be President. She's got to be ready to hit the ground running, and this woman has barely discovered her feet!
